The Moody County Genealogical Society awards a Pioneer Certificate to anyone who can prove descent from an ancestor who lived in Moody County prior to November 2, 1889, the date South Dakota statehood was attained. 

The Pioneer Certificatre's  purpose is to honor and collect data about the early residents of Moody County, South Dakota and their descendants. This information will be a valuable addition to the history of the county and will provide a source of genealogical information for future research. Documented proof must show the date and location that the pioneer ancestor resided in Moody County.

Click on the Application button to download the form.  Return a separate form and fee of $15.00 for each Pioneer Certificate requested. Current Moody County residency is not required to receive a certificate.
